Slow Cooked Lamb Balti 

Description

Delicious and tender slow cooked lamb cooked in a spicy tomato based balti curry 

 

Serves: 5-6

 

Prep time: 15 minutes 

Cooking time: 6 hours 

 

 

 

Ingredients

1.5 kg lamb

2 large onions, chopped 

2 tsp turmeric powder

1 tsp hot chilli powder

3 tsp ground ginger

3 tsp ground garlic powder

1 tsp ground cloves 

2 cardamon seeds

1/2 tsp jeera or cumin powder 

2 tins plum tomatoes, blended 

2 tbsp balti paste 

1-3 small green chillies 

2 cups water 

2 hand fulls fresh coriander 

season all to taste

salt to taste

3 tbsp sunflower oil 

Instructions

1. Season lamb with season all to taste. Brown lamb on all sides on high heat in sunflower oil.

 

2. Add onions, followed by seeds and spices and 1-2 chopped green chillies. Stir well and cook for 3 minutes

 

3.  Add tomatoes, balti paste, water and a full circle of salt. Stir well.

4. Add ingredients to crockpot (optional: add whole chilli) and cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours.

5. Stir curry and add 2 hand fulls of fresh coriander and extra salt to your taste. Cook for a further 1.5- 2 hours before serving. Serve with rice or/and naan bread
